Calling all Property Maintenance Technicians to join us at West Midlands Trains for an exciting opportunity to join our Property Team at on a Full-Time, Permanent basis.

We’re looking for the ideal candidate to carry out planned and reactive maintenance along with minor refurbishments to all train stations. We have vacancies within the West Midlands area and stations that serve our LNR route, from Rugby to London Euston. Support will also be required at our train maintenance depots and administration buildings as required.

You will ensure all planned maintenance activities meet statutory requirements. The aims of this multi-skilled role are to maintain assets to ensure safety, to avoid unexpected failures, and repair faults effectively and efficiently to ensure the service is not delayed; to minimise costs incurred due to failures, ensure equipment and facilities are available for use by colleagues, and support the customer experience.

The Property Maintenance Technician will require:

• Time served as maintenance apprentice (or equivalent), with equivalent trade qualification. Ideally within a carpentry, plumbing, electrical or other relevant building trade.

• GCSE level 4 / grade C or above in Math’s and English (or equivalent)

• Electrical knowledge or experience would be an advantage as would Qualification to 18th Edition BS7671 or Part P or willingness and ability to complete qualification to achieve the qualification.

• Experience of working in an industrial / commercial maintenance environment.

• To carry out minor plumbing, drainage and building fabric repairs

• Able to interpret and understand operating and technical manuals.

• Working knowledge of COSHH, working at height & manual handling regulations.

• Able to work on your own initiative.

• Ability to recognise internal and external customer requirements and interact professionally with all stakeholders.

• Good communication skills, written and verbal.

• Work well independently and within a team.

• Basic IT skills (including email) and experience of using computer aided facilities management systems and associated devices.

• Hold a full UK driving license. You will be provided with a company vehicle and you will be on-call one week in 5 for emergency, out of hours faults to which you will attend.

Ideally the candidate will live within a 10-mile radius of one of our West Midlands Stations or stations along the noted LNR route.
