West Midlands Trains, as part of the wider Abellio Group, operates as a joint venture - West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway, delivering 1,300 safe and reliable services per day for c60 million passengers per year.
We are committed to developing our employees, throughout our network, and the Learning & Development team are at the core of the strategy.
Due to internal movement, we are now looking to recruit a Learning & Development Business Partner on a full-time, permanent basis, with responsibility for the strategy and projects around learning initiatives, throughout the business.
Some of the key activities you will be involved with include:
- Working in partnership with the Head of Learning and Development to identify any gaps, and develop strategies, ensuring L&D meets the business expectations - for current and future leadership capability
- Supporting the continuous roll out of the Leadership Management Development Programme
- Sourcing and partnering with third suppliers, building a robust leadership offering - at all levels of management
- Development and embedding of a High Potential Talent Programme
- Mapping of core development programmes to career pathways – throughout the business
- Proactively seek new innovative ways to manage and deliver the L&D development programme
- Providing L&D consultancy to senior leaders and their teams
- Working in partnership with the EDI forums to research and advise on diversity and inclusion issues
- Creating and implementing a Mentoring programme
- Managing the People Review process with key stakeholders - proactively identifying and driving new ways to increase usage
- Creating and reporting of KPIs, successes, feedback and outcomes - providing analytics for senior leaders
To succeed in the role, you will ideally demonstrate:
- A professional L&D/HR Qualification, e.g., OD or L&D further education and or professional qualifications such as CIPD
- Substantial practical experience as a Learning and Development professional - delivering high level learning needs and commissioning of learning solutions
- Experience in successfully developing and project managing new learning & development programmes
- Learning needs analysis - identifying, designing and implementing development initiative.
- Exposure and experience of building upon eLearning solutions and authoring tools
- Confident communication style – able to adapt the tone and style to the audience
- Strong facilitation and influence skills
- A range of leadership development approaches/models - including coaching and feedback
- Passion about the development and continuous growth of people
- Self-motivation with a strong customer focus
- An ability to manage a high and complex workload
- Excellent research, analytical abilities
- Excellent IT skills – able to confidently use the full range of Microsoft Office365 applications and, ideally, Oracle HR
