We have an exciting opportunity for an Operational Shift Station Manager to join our Customer Service team at London Liverpool Street. 

The Role
Working as part of a team of Shift Managers, you will look after around 80 colleagues from across our operational safety critical Train Dispatch teams based at London Liverpool Street and Stratford stations.  

This role requires you to work a mixture of weekdays and weekends, on a shift basis that will involve early, late and night shifts. You will need to be flexible in your approach to your working week in your capacity as a Shift Manager and will be rostered by Station Management Team to ensure the operational needs of the business are met.  

The successful candidate will be pivotal in the operation of the Station with regard to the following: 

  • Leading and managing front-line customer facing teams to deliver a safe and operational railway in relation to safety critical train dispatch.
  • Ensuring that high operational and safety standards and expectations are maintained such as right time departures, disruption management and safe systems of work.
  • Ensuring that high people and working standards are maintained such as uniform, appearance, punctuality, and absence within the workplace.
  • Overseeing the overall operation of the train dispatch delivery including close collaborative working with stakeholders and suppliers such as Network Rail and other key train operators at London Liverpool Street and Stratford Stations.
  • Leading and managing complex service disruption situations and working closely with stakeholders and suppliers to support the recovery of the railway as quickly and safely as possible following service disruption.

What we are looking for

This is a multi-faceted role, where no two days are the same, this role is certainly not for the faint hearted, however can be extremely rewarding to an individual that thrives in a busy and diverse environment. We are looking for a passionate people person who is comfortable in training, nurturing and performance managing colleagues within your team where required and is focussed on working to high targets and expectations to ensure a positive experience for our customers is delivered.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a fast paced and often challenging environment such as dealing with service disruption on a large scale at a busy London Terminus train station.

This role is safety critical and you will be trained and competent in Train Dispatch to have a full overall operational understanding of the station. 
The successful candidate will be required to pass a safety critical medical.

Past operational experience is desirable but not essential, as we will train you. However, experience in people management and leadership is essential for this role and you should have easy access to central London based on the shift nature this role requires.
