Department / Location:Abellio Shared Services Centre – Glasgow

Reports to:Treasury Manager

 

Main job purpose:

Assist with delivering the Treasury / Banking functions within Shared

Services Centre, providing a full suite of banking services to Abellio’s UK entities.

 

Key accountabilities/responsibilities:

Reporting

  • Assist with accurate and timely completion of all Treasury / Banking duties.
  • Assist with the integration of new Stakeholders / Opcos, as Shared Services Centre grows and offers its functions to new customers.
  • Input payments accurately.
  • Assist with month end bank statement reconciliations.
  • Process journals as required.
  • Assist with year-end close in relation to bank and cashbook transactions.

 

Regulatory Information

  • Maintain up to date knowledge and understanding of GDPR regulations.
  • UK Accounting Framework basics.

 

Administration

  • Effective completion of all duties, including but not limited to:
    • Provide of up to date account / balance information;
    • Ensure appropriate approvals are received for payments;
    • Set up required payments; and
    • Ensure payments are authorised through the various payment systems
  • Posting of all cashbook transactions
  • Assisting with Treasury-related balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Correspond with third parties where required.
  • Assist with resolution of data queries received from banking providers.
  • Ensure banking queries are resolved in a timely manner with the OpCo’s and stakeholders.
  • Assist with completion of monthly reconciliations of bank accounts / statements.
  • Assist with month end closing and reporting where required.
  • Ad-hoc tasks handed down by Treasury Manager.
  • Assist with periodic regulatory returns.

 

Process Improvement

  • Assist the Treasury Manager in improving control processes both in the Shared Services Centre and within the remote entity locations.
  • With guidance from the Treasury Manager, keep documentation up to date for all financial and administrative processes for business continuity purposes.

Attainments: education, qualifications & training requirements
  • Numerically & IT literate Intermediate MS Office skills, in particular MS Excel (vlookup, sumif, pivot tables).
  • Educated to Higher level, or equivalent working experience in an accounting/Finance background/part qualified AAT
  • Open Accounts

  • Excellent communicator at all levels both written and verbal
  • IT literate with a good level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Treasury / banking knowledge.
  • Previous experience of working in a Finance Department or equivalent AP/AR role
  • Process understanding
