Fleet Continuous Improvement Manager – Tyseley

West Midlands Trains has an exciting new role available working with the Head of Fleet Production within the WMT Fleet team to lead on all the Continuous Improvement processes, including culture change.

The Role
You will be joining us at this exciting time where we introduce a new fleet of CAF Class 196 units and upgrade our depots and outstations. Leading on all the Continuous Improvement processes within the Fleet organisation, including culture change and the implementation of tools and techniques such as Visual Management and Practical Problem Solving.

You will be primarily based at Tyseley however, you will also be travelling across all Fleet locations.

The successful applicant will ideally:

  • Be able to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment, without being afraid to challenge the status quo
  • Be flexible and adaptable approach with a positive ‘can do' attitude, approachable, engaging, resilient, organised, motivated, articulate and professional
  • Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrable a Continuous Improvement mind-set and ability to think strategically with a good overall understanding of project and change management with experience desirable
  • Have previous experience and implementation of continuous improvement tools and methodologies for operation teams, such as visual management
  • Demonstrate delivery of Lean Six Sigma (or similar) related projects, training and coaching
  • Have sound leadership skills to lead cross-functional working groups
  • Proven influencing and negotiation skills to obtain the best outcome from cross-functional working groups
  • Have experience in leading workshops, defining action plans and tracking through to completion
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is desirable along with any other Continuous Improvement qualification.
