THE ROLE: To provide pro-active support to the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Manager to deliver the Wellbeing agenda and associated initiatives to develop a positive wellbeing culture. 

This role will support the delivery of the OH services and will organise and coordinate the activities required to promote, maintain and improve the health and wellbeing of our people. The Wellbeing    advisor will develop and implement an annual programme of activities and campaigns that support colleagues and the employee experience.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

To support the delivery of the occupational health and wellbeing strategy


To develop, maintain and manage good relationships with our external health and care suppliers ensuring that our service levels are met, that value for money is delivered and that the appropriate levels of support are in place.

To support the development and implementation of effective long term and short-term absence management procedures and ensure that line managers have the skills to carry these out.

Contribute to the provision of training, advice, sickness absence management, investigations of cases of occupational ill health, and other general OH issues.

Promoting the range of employee support and benefits currently available

Develop appropriate health campaigns aimed at improving workers general health in response to emerging trends and professional advice

To work with the Health and Safety teams in the promotion of all health and safety issues, providing support as required.

To assist in the health surveillance programme by working closely with admin teams out with HR  to ensure appropriate medicals are carried out and within date

Providing and delivering health promotional activity including health events, drop in clinics, presentations, workshops

Delivery of health promotion campaigns, initiatives and programmes and ability to show measurable benefits / outcomes

Develop and provide supporting materials and information relating to any health promotion activity

Providing general support to the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Manager

Contribute to the overall performance and delivery of the wider HR Function.

JOB SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential

Experience of working within an OH setting / role
Be familiar in health screening – e.g. taking blood pressures, body fat %, cholesterol, urinalysis
An understanding of the barriers ill colleagues can face in work and the range of individual adjustments available to support
To support health promotion campaigns by researching and collating information from the evidence-based internets sites, articles etc.
Good I.T skills including Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint
Knowledge of the impact of mental health issues in the workplace and specifically in relation to safety critical environments
Sound knowledge of external wellbeing accreditations e.g. Health Working Lives/ IiP and should be able to demonstrate an understanding of what is required to achieve and maintain these awards
Relevant clinical occupational health proficiency required to assess health needs of the business unit appropriately
Strong interpersonal skills including motivational, relationship building and influencing skills 

Desirable

Additional qualifications and experience in an area of health specialism, such as cardiovascular disease, cancer in the workplace, mental health, musculoskeletal conditions or vocational rehabilitation

To have knowledge on carrying out ECG’s, vision testing, audiometry, lung function testing

Safety management qualification.

Customer interface, including training/presenting relevant health data/presentations.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Post covers 35 hours per week. Reference Salary will be £31,575 per annum.
