West Midlands Trains has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources (HR) Business Partner to join the HR Team based at our Birmingham Head Office.  You must be immedicately available to join us on a contract basis for up to 5 months.  This is a fantastic time to join West Midlands Trains. We operate services in and around the West Midlands, now called West Midlands Railway (WMR) and services from the North West to London, now called London Northwestern Railway (LNR).

The HR Business Partner will work at both a strategic and operational level. Working with the Senior Managers of your business area you will provide support and guidance on strategic and operational matters and work proactively with the business to implement the strategic HR plan linking into the Senior HR Business Partners. You will actively support the operation of the business by providing a proactive, effective and professional HR service, and act as a key point of contact for both line management and employees on employee relations issues providing informed specialist advise. 

In order to be considered for this role you will have a generalist background with a strong focus on Employee Relations (ER) and bring with you experience of dealing with Unions.  With experience of managing complex ER cases end to end with a high caseload. You will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of employment law and will have a track record of supporting managers and providing comprehensive advice and guidance on all HR related matters.  Ideally you will have experience of working in the Rail sector.

We are looking for a CIPD qualified individual with the ability to build strong working relationships, with the ability to challenge and influence at difference levels across the organisation.  You will have demonstrable experience of delivering pragmatic, commercial advice to senior stakeholders and be experienced in delivering coaching, training and development interventions to raise line manager capability.
