Materials Administrator

Following on from the award of West Midlands Trains franchise, we are dedicated to giving people and businesses the rail service they’ve always wanted. We’re investing £1 billion into the region’s network, providing new and smartly refurbished trains, better stations, extra benefits and cheaper travel. London North-western Railway (LNR) and West Midlands Railway (WMR) are 2 new rail brands to the UK rail market, operating since December 2017. 

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Material Administrator in our Soho Depot to develop and support the materials function in all aspects of material procurement; planning and stock control.  

As the Material Administrator you will ensure component availability by liaising with suppliers and ensuring receipt of purchase orders; reconciliation of order books; the on-time delivery of components and the timely return of repairable material. You also will be assisting finance by ensuring the effective timely resolutions of any invoice queries.

We are looking for an experienced individual who is pro-active with good time management skills. A self-starter you will be working autonomously as well as collaboratively with colleagues and be reporting to the Materials Manager.

The successful applicant will have the following:

  • A strong background in materials management with MRP and procurement experience.
  • Experience and confidence in dealing and communicating with suppliers.
  • A good practical working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge and use of an MRP computer system – preferably Equinox.
  • An ability to identify and pre-empt potential stock and supply issues.
  • Strong stock control skills
  • Knowledge of warehouse processes / procedures.
  • Strong inter-personal skills along with an ability to be pro-active and work on own initiative.
  • Certification in forklift truck and reach truck
  • Lifting and slinging trained
  • Manual handling (theory and practice)
  • Full driving licence
