West Midlands Trains has an exciting opportunity for a Fleet Contracts Manager to join our Engineering team based at Birmingham Head Offices on a Full-Time Permanent basis.

Purpose of the Role:

To manage the contractual interfaces between West Midland Trains and other parties relating to Rolling Stock and Rolling Stock Maintenance, ensuring that business objectives and franchise commitments/obligations are met whilst minimising the commercial risk to the business. Key interface between the Engineering and Finance & Contracts directorates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for management of the XC maintenance services agreement
  • Primary interface between fleet engineering and procurement, providing support in the procurement process including tendering of goods and services relevant to the engineering directorate.
  • Management of ROSCO interfaces including representation at lease reviews
  • Ensure the cost-effective management of the supply and maintenance of current rolling stock contracts necessary to meet business requirements and franchise commitments/obligations.
  • Prepare and assist with negotiations of contracts and contract amendments for the supply of rolling stock, maintenance and goods and services necessary to meet business requirements and franchise commitments/obligation, liaising with external legal advisors, as appropriate.

Experience and Knowledge required for the Job:

  • Sound knowledge of commercial contracts and financial awareness
  • Preferable to have extensive knowledge of complex leasing and maintenance contracts
  • Experience in management and negotiation of large contracts
  • Experience of working with legal advisors and instructing legal advice
  • Ideally educated to degree standard
