An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and reliable Technician who possesses substantial engineering experience to join our Production and Technical Team as a Fleet Engineer on a FTC basis. 

This job will be based in our Tyseley Technical Office.

The successful job holder must be able;

·         prepare and then develop the maintenance regime, including instructions, procedures and associated documents, to improve the cost effectiveness of vehicle maintenance.

·         risk assess new processes and procedures relating to new fleet.

·         specify and procure required equipment and tooling needed for the new fleets.

·         investigate and review all safety related incidents, accidents, defects and events that occur that may affect the new fleet and ensure that appropriate action is taken to reflect this in the VMIs to ensure ongoing safe operation.

·         assist the Training team in the development of technical training relating to the maintenance of the new fleet.

·         manage relationships with manufacturers and suppliers and other operators in order to be best prepared for the new fleet.

·         provide data to support the generation of business cases for investment in the fleet or depots to address any issue that may contributing to poor maintenance performance. 

·         Produce weekly/monthly/quarterly reports to communicate project status both internally and externally to include periodic reports demonstrating the depots current position in preparation for the new fleet.

·         document the new fleet maintenance regime, including instructions, procedures and associated documents, ensuring the depot is prepared in terms of training, equipment and tools etc as required by the maintenance regime.

·         ensure the MMS is populated in preparation for the new fleet

·         develop relationship with other TOCs running similar units to ensure best practice relating to maintenance.

In addition to the above, you will also possess an in-depth knowledge of UK and European approvals regimes and fleet related TSIs, NNTRs and technical standards. A broad technical knowledge of rail vehicles and their maintenance and experience in risk assessment techniques is also essential.
