An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Driving Standards Manager in our Operations Department in Beddington Depot. The successful applicant will be the Driving Standards Manager, assisting the Operations Manager in the depot to be responsible for all matters related to Driving Standards and their effective and efficient management and control to meet TfL and company requirements.

 

The Role:

Maintain Company Standards by means of training, disciplinary and other procedures, ensuring that the Company rules are adhered to by drivers and other staff

You will investigate all collisions, injuries and incidents involving the Company’s vehicles and take appropriate action with staff

Conduct staff interviews including fact finding / disciplinary investigations and probationary reviews.

Ensure all collisions e.g. road or personal injuries and employer liability are recorded and investigated

Investigate and make sure customer complaints, commendations, driving assessments and bus customer experience surveys are internally being responded to in a timely manner as appropriate

Collate and deliver statistics and reports in accordance with set timescales or as requested. Have a good working knowledge of all traffic systems and to carry out regular audits

Work with key staff to ensure all services operate to a high standard and in accordance with set reliability targets, and to identify and implement solutions where targets are not being met

Ensure effective communication with and information to drivers, supervisors and managers through the use of staff notices, staff memos / letters, booklets and other communication channels

Have a duty of care for the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues at all times, including a duty to report unsafe acts or omissions to safety

Carry out route risk assessments and update them regularly

To undertake any other duties commensurate with the Grade

 

The Candidate:

Must have thorough appreciation of the needs of external customers and external stakeholders, coupled with the ability to identify areas for improvement and implement effective action plans

Able to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external staff. Able to provide clear and concise feedback and guidance to promote staff confidence in decision making

Skilled in strategic thinking and forward planning to avert problems before they occur and solve problems when they occur

 Must be experienced in managing and motivating a team to achieve high standards and meet deadlines, be performance focused with the ability to enthuse a team to achieve results

Ability to analyse and interpret information

Strong IT skills

Must have a flexible approach, and be prepared to work outside normal hours to meet deadlines

Previous experience in a similar role is desirable
