London Northwestern Railway are recruiting a Talent Pool of hard working, enthusiastic people to join us Train Dispatchers.

We run trains up and down the backbone of England connecting three of the UK's major cities: London, Birmingham and Liverpool and stopping at many more. The talent pool we are looking to build is for our Southern regions – London, Watford, Northampton and Milton Keynes.

The Role
You be working a seven day shift pattern to cover early, late and night shifts. This is a vital role in ensuring services run as smoothly as possible. We are looking for friendly and approachable people, with first-class communication skills and the ability to remain calm in all situations. You must be willing to work a flexible shift pattern, working autonomously and using your initiative to deliver service excellence.

Duties will include:

  • Ensure the safe and timely despatch of trains  
  • Ensure high levels of customer service are provided 
  • Ensure customers are provided with the available accurate and timely information 
  • Comply with all appropriate rules and regulations, Rule Book and other appropriate instructions and standards
  • Announce train arrivals and departures where required 
  • Maintain a record of delays, re-platforming and other events affecting the train plan as required 
  • Proactively ensure that information is communicated within the station team and to other locations as appropriate 
  • Assist with disabled passengers as required 
  • Carry out Fire and security checks in line with current risk levels and maintain a high level of security vigilance at all times
  • Conduct station cleaning duties, and make the station safe, presentable and welcoming to customers where required

This role involves shifts and weekends and you will be required to wear uniform. All successful new entrants will be required to undergo a criminal records check, Right to Work verification, referencing and full medical assessment including a drug and alcohol screen.
