An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Platform Assistant to join our Passenger Services team based at Tamworth station on a full time, permanent basis to provide a safe and efficient train despatch and platform service to ensure that all activities are carried out safely.

Duties will include:

• Act as the Responsible Person at the station in absence of a supervisor
• Responsible for care of all despatch equipment
• Make decisions regarding train despatch based on training provided, safety requirements and West Midlands Trains policy.
• Make decision regarding provision of service to West Midlands Trains customers based on West Midlands Trains policy and management guidance
• Ensure compliance with all safety responsibilities as detailed in the appropriate Safety Responsibility Statement.
• Ensure compliance with the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act
• Ensure the safe and timely despatch of trains
• Ensure high levels of customer service are provided

This role involves shifts and weekends and you will be required to wear uniform. All successful new entrants will be required to undergo a criminal records check, Right to Work verification, referencing and full medical assessment including a drug and alcohol screen.
