An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and reliable Technician who posesses substantial engineering experience to join our Fleet Performance Team as a Fleet Approvals Engineer. 

Based out of our head office in Birmingham, this role will lead the Engineering Change process for West Midlands Trains fleet and act as the Competent Person for scrutiny of proposed changes against applicable legislation and standards.

The successful job holder must be able to quickly and accurately assess the technical detail of a proposed change against all applicable standards and legislation, whilst allowing a practical approach to implementation.  This requires extensive knowledge of a wide range of technical standards and an ability to be analytical and process driven. You will also need to be well organised and motivated to meet deadlines and ensure timely progress of Engineering Change packs, whilst maintaining independence when carrying out Competent Person activities.            

In addition to the above, you will also possess an in-depth knowledge of UK and European approvals regimes and fleet related TSIs, NNTRs and technical standards. A broad technical knowledge of rail vehicles and their maintenance  and experience in risk assessment techniques is also essential.
