Over 60 million passenger journeys a year are made using our trains and we manage 150 stations and operate over 1,300 services a day. That's a lot of customers! To provide this service we need a great team of employees supporting our purpose and our visionary goals and values. As such we are recruiting for a Fleet Production Leader to work from Worcester Depot (and Outstations) to lead and direct colleagues to enable the efficient production of correctly carried out heavy maintenance on rolling stock and to ensure vehicles are maintained, repaired, and modified, at locations in designated areas in a safe and efficient manner.
As the Fleet Production Leader, you will be responsible for planning and maintaining a workload for colleagues and to guide colleagues to ensure the safe and appropriate servicing, repair, maintenance, and heavy maintenance of traction and rolling stock in accordance with laid down regulations and specifications.
Key accountabilities:
- Ensuring that work is carried out in an efficient manner on an economical basis to planned time scales, and that matters of an urgent nature are given the correct priority
- Advise, guide and instruct colleagues as necessary when they are carrying out technical work as required
- Inspection of work carried out by colleagues to include in process inspections, audits, risk assessments and SCWR assessments
- Report and make recommendations regarding staff levels and working arrangements and by making recommendations to management and technical staff that lead to the improvement of technical documentation, tooling or other work practices that would lead to improved productivity/efficiency, greater safety or higher fleet reliability
- Responsible for ensuring upkeep of cleanliness, safety precautions, accident prevention, investigation and reporting, in accordance with safety procedures and regulations
Experience/Knowledge:
- Completed appropriate apprenticeship or hold relevant qualifications in electrical / mechanical engineering as specified by current company policy
- Faniliar with DMU maintenance
- Substantial experience in rail traction.
- Familiar with Health and Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies.
- A1 & A2 Assessors qualification
- Possess road vehicle Driving Licence and authority to drive Railway Service vehicles
- Computer literate
- PTS certified
This role involves shifts and weekends and you will be required to wear uniform. All successful new entrants will be required to undergo a criminal records check, Right to Work verification, referencing and full medical assessment including a drug and alcohol screen.
