Traction Energy Performance Manager

We have an excellent opportunity, within our Performance Team in Train Service Delivery, for a Traction Energy Performance Manager. Please note this is a 2 Year Fixed Term Contract.

Main Duties:

This newly created role will analyse and report traction energy performance, identify consumption reduction opportunities and manage those related projects.  

CDAS: The role will lead on the administration and reporting of the Connected Driver Advisory System (CDAS), ensuring driver profiles are up to date, acting as the primary interface with the software provider and leading on CDAS related trials and projects that deliver tangible energy savings. The post holder will analyse the performance benefits gained from regulating drivers speeds as well as interrogating sectional data and TSRs, with a view to identifying possible efficiencies from driving styles or energy usage. They will also lead on any changes to the associated BI reporting. 

Energy Metering: The role will collate energy data from several fleets and will measure and identify differences between the actual energy used against the billed usage. Required to verify gaps and errors in the EC4T billing caused by bi-modes and other tractions to produce accurate billing to Network Rail. Liaison with the Environmental Systems Manager will be necessary. 

Reporting: There is a focus on reporting within this role. This includes consolidating energy metering reports from different sources, ensuring quarterly reports are submitted to the DfT on energy usage, disseminating information to relevant parties about driver and train energy usage and reporting the performance of different tractions against budget. 

Traction Energy:The role will promote the efficient use of traction energy and lead traction energy consumption projects to achieve maximum savings. You will coordinate with line management teams to implementing initiatives and will report on the progress of those projects. The role will report the performance of different tractions against budget and lead investigations in to the reasons for performance differences whilst contributing to the traction energy element of the company wide energy review. Effectively, you will become the ‘go-to’ person for queries about traction energy performance. 

What we are looking for:

You will have knowledge and experience of railway operations with a good understanding of Engineering, Operations and Environmental management practices. You will be analytically strong, numerically minded and will enjoy data. You should have good communication skills and be able to structure ideas logically whilst handling complexity. You must be able to work to tight deadlines and be flexible to changes in a plan. Previous experience in project management, getting complex deliverables from teams and presenting ideas / plans to project sponsors and stakeholders would be desirable. Ideally you will be educated to degree level or equivalent and will be competent with budgets and MS Excel.
