We are seeking an ambitious and confident leader who is seeking a new challenge as a Duty Station Manager to cover our North Area.

We want to leave our customers with a lasting and positive impression of using our services and as a Duty Station Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of delivering this vision. We’ll expect you to embed a high performing culture within our Stations Teams by driving performance and implementing continuous improvements with the aim to further enhance our customers experience.

People will be at the heart of everything you do, and you’ll be an experienced leader in retaining and empowering staff. You’ll also play a huge part in creating and implementing succession plans and be heavily involved in talent acquisition, performance, career management and positive employee engagement. Visibility is imperative as you will be responsible for teams who are spread geographically across different locations.

The safety of your staff will be an absolute priority and you’ll also be responsible for carrying out the delivery of all relevant training and briefing for your teams. Furthermore, you’ll be an accountable leader who consistently acts with integrity and professionalism who creates a culture to ensure safety is everyone’s business

Your communication skills will be second to none and you’ll engage with staff and customers with presence and influence. We also want an outstanding stakeholder manager who possesses the confidence to build effective working relationships our people, customers, other TOCs, station tenants and local service providers to name a few.  You’ll strive to adopt a ‘one team culture’ within West Midlands Trains and work closely with your fellow Duty Station Managers across the network to ensure consistency, best practice and learning adopted.

Other duties will include:

  • Ensure that all actions arising from the Service Quality Review audit are actioned in line with our obligations
  • Use customer feedback to continually look for ways to build and improve the experience our customers receive
  • Ensure the competence of all safety critical staff within your area
  • Ensure there is a crowd control/emergency plan in place for all stations where major events take place
  • Develop station travel plans for arriving and departing customers, that are integrated with other forms of transport
  • Work as required by the company including working shifts when required.  The role may also have on call responsibilities
