Due to department expansion a unique opportunity has arisen for a talented individual to join the Training Academy Team within West Midlands Trains.

Playing a crucial role in the successful ongoing development of our colleagues your key focus as Training Programme Development Manager, will be the design and development of new and existing operational training programmes which represent changes in industry, best practice, safety regulations, European Driving Licensing Regulations and compliance with Operational and Occupational Standards.

Whilst embracing new technology you will be responsible for adapting existing materials and techniques to meet the ever changing development needs of our front line teams and communicating these changes effectively to the wider Operations Training Team, supporting them to ensure their successful delivery.

Due to the nature of this role previous experience within the Train Driver role and a good knowledge of traction and railway rules and regulations would be an advantage.

Practical experience in designing and delivering training programmes, identifying learning needs and writing training guides and learner material to cater for different learning styles is essential for this role as is an excellent knowledge and understanding Microsoft Office packages.

You should be highly motivated, passionate about the development of people whilst possessing excellent communication and presentation skills which will allow you to engage with key stakeholders to design and deliver programmes which will inspire learning and reflect West Midland Trains vision and values.

Key Responsibilities
Responsible for managing the design, development of innovative training material for operational programmes including core rules training, PTS,  for Drivers and other Delivery Staff and Shunters
Communicate changes to operations training team effectively and support in the delivery of new programmes
Responsible for ensuring all LM Rule Book Appendix are updated and changes are reflected in operations training programmes 
Liaise interdepartmentally to ensure the latest information technology is utilised within all available training modules
Liaise with Operations Safety Team to ensure training material is compliant and meets with business and group standards
Manage the recording and distribution training documentation to ensure it remains visible and controlled.
Deliver training projects to agreed deadlines
Provide support for the delivery of Core Rules and Academy training programmes as required
Maintain best practice in training approaches
Ensure accurate and comprehensive evaluation of all training delivered
Assess knowledge / competency and report on delegate achievement in core programmes

Qualifications

Trainer or Coaching & Instructional qualification is essential
Holder of A1 and/or A2 qualification or equivalent would be an advantage
Holder of a European Train Driver License would be an advantage
Rules & Regulations competence to the designated standard
Successful completion of Personal Track Safety Training
