Due to department expansion an exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented individual with train driver experience to join the Training Academy as an Operations Trainer.

Playing a key role in the ongoing development of our people you will be responsible for delivering and evaluating a range of operational training programmes for our train drivers and other retail and operational roles, including Core Rules, PTS and both technical and non-technical skills.

Although having training experience would be an advantage it is not essential, however, as your main focus will be the delivery of core skills programmes, it is essential you have train driving experience and a good knowledge of traction and railway rules and regulations.

You should share a keen interest in playing an active role in the development of others, be highly motivated, excellent communicator and able to work on your own intuitive or as part of a team in order to build positive and professional working relationships with trainees and key stakeholders,

Flexibility to travel is required as training delivery will be at various locations across our West Midlands Trains network.

Main Responsibilities

Deliver training as required throughout the business
Ensure training material is compliant with group standards
Deliver core rules training, PTS and other operational and retail programmes for Drivers and other Delivery Staff and Shunters
Liaise with Training Programme Development Manager to ensure effective delivery of training modules for colleagues in all front line delivery functions
Ensure accurate and comprehensive evaluation of all training delivered
Assess knowledge and report on delegate achievement in core programmes
Provide support for other Academy training programmes as required

Qualification & Training required for the job:

Trainer or Coaching & Instructional qualification
Holder of A1 and/or A2 qualification or equivalent
Holder of a European Driving license would be an advantage
Rules & Regulations Competence to the designated standard
Successful completion of Personal Track Safety Training
