With all that investment focussing on staff development it’s an exciting time to be part of WMT, as we are seeking to expand our Academy Centre, and looking for a Simulator Manager to join our team

If you’re an experienced Simulator Trainer or Train Driver, who has a keen interest in technology and looking to move into an exciting role which allows you to promote an inspiring learning environment and play a pinnacle part in the development of front-line staff, then this could be the position for you!

This is a key role within West Midlands Trains based in Birmingham, you’ll be responsible for promoting and managing the day to day running of the simulators, shaping innovative simulator scenarios and delivering training packages on both our static and mobile sims,

You’ll partner closely with the business, identifying new opportunities for training which are compatible with our current core training programmes and ensure operational staffs training and assessments are delivered within their competency cycles.

Your knowledge of the rail industry will form a key element for the development of training packages to ensure they are enhanced to represent industry best practice and are compliant with operational and occupational standards.

What would we need from you?

  • Previous operational experience as a qualified Train Driver
  • Excellent knowledge of railway rules and regulations
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Firm understanding of Microsoft Offices
  • Comfortable in the use of technology
  • Excellent attention to detail and relationship building skills
  • Highly self-motivated, proactive team player with a willingness to embrace new ideas
