Planning Shift Manager

We have a great opportunity to join our Engineering Team in Romford as a Planning Shift Manager.

Main Duties:

To manage and lead the Planning team based at Romford ROC (shift based), ensuring the team provide trains for safe operational service and maintenance. Meet the requirements for operational service ensuring trains are serviceable and available. Ensure all maintenance activities and modification programs for all trains are forecast and planned to ensure optimum fleet maintenance status and fleet configuration. You shall also ensure maintenance work is planned to the engineering maintenance facilities in order to maximise the efficiency of the engineering maintenance capability.

You will develop and implement contingency plans during times of service disruption, and lead, guide, support and direct the Planning team, responsible for providing training and development opportunities enabling appropriate succession planning. You will also be involved in developing, understanding and translating the business strategy into a feasible and operational maintenance plan that can be communicated to all stakeholders.

Responsible for the development of best practice manuals in line with the Quality Management Systems, supporting all activities performed by the team. Continuously seek improvements in processes, whilst managing the effectiveness and efficiencies of procedures. You shall also be responsible for the delivery and implementation of programs developed and communicated by the Strategic Planning Managers in relation to medium and long-term maintenance activities.

You will be required to produce and implement recovery plans and Emergency Contingencies in times of severe disruption to operations. You will also be responsible for the collation of data to ensure progress of programs is reported to stakeholders. Implementing KPI’s and ensuring that efficiency gains are identified and actioned, promoting continuous improvements in all areas of maintenance planning.

Facilitating and leading meetings with stakeholders to develop strategies and optimise resource requirements.

What we are looking for:

At least 5 years’ experience in an engineering manufacturing or operational environment, with a Degree or equivalent. Have proven leadership experience, communication and interpersonal skills. Articulate in written and oral communication. Be familiar with continuous improvement methodologies such as six-sigma.

You should have knowledge of manufacturing and resource planning principles and stock types operated by Greater Anglia. Also possess the ability to interpret and adhere to the company safety manuals. Proven experience of managing a team in a 24/7 critical operational environment.

Good knowledge of I.T systems, including Nexala InforEAM, Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, P2 and GENIUS. Rules and regulations, appertaining to GA rolling stock.

You will come from an Engineering background or vocational qualification, have good organisational skills and effective communication skills with the ability to interface at all levels. You should also be a strong team player and leader with the ability to develop and build relationships at all levels with a wide range of stakeholders.

Analytical with ability to interpret data, be assertive and have strong influencing skills.
