We have an exciting opportunity for a Materials Assistant to join us at our Crown Point Depot in Norwich and be part of a very busy Engineering environment. The successful applicant will be required to work Day Shift Monday to Friday, a minimum of 37 hours as required.
Purpose of the Job is to deputise for materials manager as required including absence from office and holiday cover and to prepare and manage store personnel work rosters and annual leave, ensuring minimum cover is efficiently maintained. Liaise with stores team leader to ensure this is achieved.
Key Accountabilities are as follows:-
Managing training of stores personnel, including depot safety and operations training. Control Warranty Database including input of warranty information into database. (Access/InforEAM). Validation of warranty information in liaison with SPMs and shop floor staff. You will Input warranty claims into Unipart portal. Report outcomes to Materials Manager. Run MRP reports and liaise with Materials Manager to confirm requirements. You process MRP requirements and send orders to Suppliers. Follow up late deliveries with Suppliers and report to Materials Manager. Control stock counts and investigate stock discrepancies as reported.
You will resolve those where discrepancy is correctable and recommend future preventative measures. Report to materials manager where discrepancy is not correctable. Manage the cataloguing of stock items and link to Cat numbers in InforEAM. You will run daily/weekly reports including backorders, stock shortages and vehicles waiting materials. You will also keep records for KPIs. Assist in identifying non stock items required by production. Manage reconciliation of daily fuel transactions in liaison with Production Manager. You will ensure that any housekeeping routines are carried out and manage and undertake Materials Office support activities. Management of depot calibration process.
Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications Required
Good computer skills and good working knowledge of Word and Excel are essential. Good communication skills. Experience of working in both office and Stores environments is desired. Planning and organising. Plans to meet departmental objectives. Flexibility and adaptability. Able to work on own initiative. Consistently seeking new challenges. You will have the ability to see alternative ways of achieving organisational goals. You will think analytically. Consistently analysing and comparing methods of working with a view to achieving best practice. You will be a team player, and play a key role in success of the team.
