Contractor Manager

We are currently seeking an experienced Contractor Manager to join the Engineering department. The role is to manage and extract best value from contractor resources engaged in production and project activities, ensuring the highest standards of safety, conduct, workmanship and value for money are achieved.

Main Duties:

To proactively observe and manage the daily activities of contractors working on site to ensure projects are delivered to the optimum cost, quality and agreed timescales. You shall challenge contractor working practices to ensure work is conducted to specification is a safe and responsible manner.

To ensure health, safety and environmental standards are developed and maintained in accordance with legislation and company standards. You will also be reviewing contractor risk assessments, safe systems of work, work package plans etc to ensure they meet the high safety standards and expectations of the company.

You will issue security ID passes and permits to work, and will set contractor safety standards and enforce adherence to them whilst conducting regular audits and checks on contractors. As a part of this role you will be required to investigate accidents, incidents, near misses and any other undesired outcomes in relation to contractor works.

What we are looking for:

NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent e.g. C&G Level 3 in OSH, NEBOSH CDM etc. You should have up to date knowledge of H&S legislation including CDM Regulations, and 3 years’ practical experience preferably within an Engineering environment.

You should have experience conducting audits, checks and investigations. Formal qualifications preferred, and the confidence and stature to challenge working practices and take decisive action. Whilst having the capable to successfully manage formal interfaces with contractors both formal and written.

Experience in writing detailed procedures such as safe systems of work and operational instructions, and have a good standard of IT computer Skills (Word, Excel & Power Point essential) with attention to detail and be well organized.
