We have an exciting opportunity for an Event Manager with our Event Connect team for a fixed term period of 12 months based at either our Manchester or Glasgow offices, with potential to become a permanent position. The ideal candidate will maintain and add to the established business plan to build on the income stream from the UK Conference and Events Sector by providing transport solutions in conjunction with Conference and Event Planners.

 

We are looking for a proactive, positive individual who is results and solution focused with outstanding organisational skills and the ability to adapt ways of working to respond to changes in priorities.

 

Duties include:

  • Input into the Events Business Plan and short, medium and long term strategy.

  • Initiate, develop and sustain key contacts within the UK Conference and Events Sector by recommending Abellio membership to appropriate professional bodies throughout the UK (eg Marketing Bureaus and Chambers of Commerce

  • Help to develop and maintain a calendar of major events and conferences in the UK.

  • Daily Account Management duties to include but not limited to event planning and operations, costing, marketing and ticketing management.

  • Liaise with ARR Rail Replacement Teams for scheduling and resourcing vehicles and support staff for events and conferences.

  • Work closely with the UK Manager - Events, ARR Business Support Team to develop an Events Transport module within the bespoke ARR IT system (BRAS) and Website.

  • Build relationships with UK coach and bus operators to the benefit of Event Connect.

  • Recommend participation and manage involvement at relevant exhibitions and trade shows.

  • Working practices should be undertaken in accordance with Health and Safety and Environmental regulations.

  • Assist the UK Manager - Events on other projects and any other ad hoc duties as may be required.

 

All candidates must:

  • Have experience within Events and Conference Sector. Ticketing management desirable.

  • Have a good general understanding of bus and coach industry

  • Previous Business Development and Sales skills desirable

  • Social Media management skills desirable

  • Self-starter, able to work alone or within team

  • Have excellent communications skills, including written, verbal and presentational skills;

  • Inspire and develop others to deliver business goals.

  • Have a flexible approach to working hours – able to attend out-of-hours where required

  • Have a duty of care for the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues at all times, including a duty to report unsafe acts or omissions to safety. You should always follow all safety instructions in respect of how you undertake your role within the Business.

  • Ability to build excellent business relationships, both internally and externally
