An opportunity has arisen for a Financial Modeller within the Abellio Bid Team in London. We are looking for a newly qualified finance professional with some relevant experience who is looking to make a move in to the transport industry or gain experience working in a competitive bid team.

The Role

Working primarily on the production of commercial tenders and bids, the role will also support the wider group in ad-hoc projects and other finance related assignments.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Populate and update the group Financial Model for UK rail bids in line with Abellio quality standards and client specification
  • Produce financial analysis for the purpose of reporting to senior management and producing investment proposals
  • Responsible for other operating cost models and associated documentation
  • Analyse and review financial, legal and operational documents
  • Process data and accurately reflect assumptions through the financial model suite
  • Undertake analysis and quantification of risks and scenarios to support decision making

The Candidate

It is essential that you have a degree in a numerical or scientific subject with a relevant professional accountancy or finance related qualification.

You must have excellent Excel skills with a proven track record in working with large and complex spreadsheets. You will also be able to demonstrate your understanding of financial principles and project appraisal techniques. Ideally you will have some financial modelling experience along with an understanding of modelling best practice principles. However experience of the rail or transport market is not essential.

You have a passion for continuous improvement and successful delivery of measures and be able to challenge the status quo. You will also have the ability to communicate effectively and concisely at all levels both internally and externally as you will be working within a large bid team with varied and multifunctional contact.

You will be a flexible and proactive team player with the ability to work independently and cope with competing demands and priorities in a fast paced, changing environment.
