Role Details   

  • You will be working an average of 35 hours per week.  Earliest start is 06:00 and latest finish is 19:30. The role involves covering ticket office shifts where required.  Weekends are also involved.
  • You must be able to arrange your own transport to ensure timely arrival for early and late shifts.  Full training and a uniform are provided upon joining. You will need to be able to drive or arrange drop off
  • Please note that applicants must be 18 years of age or older.  
  • It is a requirement that candidates can reliably travel to and from their agreed location at the scheduled times.   

The ticket office supervisor role has a home location of Harlow Town

The Role   

A Ticket Office Clerk (Level 3) is a supervisor role, and you will oversee the running of the Ticket Office and ensuring the station is well kept and organised. 

This role will involve you supporting our customers by assisting them with using our ticket machines based around the station, as well as guiding our customers on new ticketing technology such as the smart card, and use of our mobile phone app. etc.   

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Leading and engaging retail colleagues across the route to ensure the values and behaviours of Greater Anglia are upheld at all times
  • Ensuring our sales environments operate safely, efficiently and professionally at all times
  • Upholding compliance with all Greater Anglia internal control and cash handing and accountancy procedures
  • Maximising the opportunity for revenue through the development of a proactive sales and service culture at all our points of sale
  • Greeting customers, selling tickets, and addressing customer inquiries, emphasising a customer service-oriented approach with a friendly demeanor.  
  • Supporting customers in using ticket machines located throughout the station and provide guidance on new ticketing technologies, including smart cards and mobile apps.  
  • Ensuring adherence to safety, security, and cash regulations while maintaining ticket machines.  
  • Utilising company systems such as Fujitsu Star (ticket office sales machine) and Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs).  
  • Conducting security / environment checks, at varying frequencies depending on the station, including monitoring for left items, securing waste bins, and checking that doors are locked or secured.

  • Familiarity using new technology such as smartphones to assist customers.
