This is an excellent opportunity to join the team. You will collaborate closely with other teams to deliver a portfolio of projects ranging in size, scope and budget.

As such you will be an initiative-taking, experienced PM with a background in a similar industry, who’s willing to get stuck into the detail and roll your sleeves up where necessary. You will also be expected to deputise for the Program Manager as and when required.

  • Lead teams, set objectives, recruit, develop staff, and communicate project vision for complex infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee procurement, contractual negotiations, governance structures, and stakeholder management processes.
  • Manage risks, cost plans, quality assurance, monitoring, and control processes throughout project lifecycles.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, feasibility studies, and work breakdown structures using methodologies like PRINCE2.
  • Organize reviews, implement lessons learned, and lead change control to optimize time, cost, and quality.

What skills and experience do I need to do the job?

  • Project Management Qualification: Possesses a recognized project management certification, demonstrating expertise in planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Rail Industry Experience: Familiar with the unique challenges and requirements of rail projects, including compliance with relevant industry standards.
  • Main Contractor Background: Experience working for a main contractor, ensuring the successful delivery of projects from inception to completion.
  • Multi-Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, showcasing strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Diverse Project Scales: Skilled in overseeing projects of varying sizes and budgets, up to £3–4 million, ensuring effective resource allocation and cost control.
  • Safety Expertise: Deep understanding of safety regulations, ensuring compliance and promoting a safe working environment throughout project lifecycles.

What are the salary and benefits?

  • Salary of up to £65,000 depending on experience
  • Final salary pension – one of the best pension schemes available
  • Free travel on all our trains and those of other train companies within our parent group company - for you, your partner, and any dependent children
